J D Salinger (1919-2010)

A Perfect Day for Bananafish

Taken from For Esme with Love and Squalor and other stories, (1948) A Perfect day for Bananafish is the story of Seymour, back from the war and Muriel, his wife, and their dysfunctional relationship.  It was never going to end well.

It’s a difficult story to grab hold of because you know there is so much beneath the surface and that is the crux of Salinger’s writing.
